Celestun and La Playita

Further into the northwest of the Yucatan, Berry and I ran upon a truck, burning in the middle of the road. It's flammable cargo had ignited somehow and started burning, but with no fire equipment, the fire soon consumed the poor man's truck. A small crowd gathered to watch the fire eat the truck. Robert asked if anyone had been injured in the fire... because Berry was a nurse. They said no one had been injured. Berry chided me afterwards for my having volunteering her as a nurse.

Near the coastal city of Celestun, we stopped near some trees. One bird launching itself from the top branchs was the Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus). It was catching insects from its perch there on the branch.

When it was time to settle in for the night, we found a room in the beachfront hotel, Eco Flamingo Playa. Hungry from our day's adventure, we ate dinner on the beach at a restaurant, La Playita. Our tables were sitting on the sand. We both had the seafood taken directly out of the ocean.
